Liberia: AFL At 69 A Day Of Celebration To A Force For Good Abubakar Hashim/ Monrovia  The Armed Forces of Liberia AFL, today, February 11, 2026, celebrates its 69th Armed Forces day. President Boaka, in his address, commended the force for its unwavering commitment to civil rule and military professionalism. He revealed there will be more recruitments into the AFL between 2026 to 2029, with robust supports to the force, in renovation of barracks, capacity building and gender equality, with his defence minister, a female, buttressing his position on gender parity in the armed forces. Delivering his key note address, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shuaibu, remarked that it is a home coming, as he was the Military Assistant MA to former Chief of Army Staff in Liberia, late Gen Alao Abdulrahman, between 2007 to 2012. With the “ Securing Liberia Together; Strengthening Inter-Agency Cooperation Against Drug Trafficking and Emerging Security Threat”, the Liberian Armed Forces Day was well attended, with the crème de la crème, with distinguished service awards to Tene Quatara, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Cotedivoire, Major General Paul Rogers of Michigan National Guard, Brig Gen Mohammed Sani Usman of the Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Owoicho Ejiga of Nigerian Army, Col Eric Akafia of Ghana Armed ForcesLt Col Usufu Sankoh of Sierra Leone Armed Gorces, Lt Vol Mohamed Abubakakri Rt of the Ghana Armed Forces and David Vinton, a distinguished Liberian banker.
