Baba we sometimes condemn what we don’t know. I hope you know it was Angel Gabriel that gave Prophet Mohammed the Hadith. These old babas don’t give their followers the key until they are sure they won’t use it for other motives.  You even confirmed God in piece meal.  Plucking leaves in the evening may have spiritual connotation or just a gimmick to drive fear into the heart of the acolytes.  Of course there are mixture of divination, sorcery and those who know the in-depth use of herbs. Some are specialist, while some mix everything together to make money.  The returnees that pioneer written Yoruba history had their own point of view. Abi how will a civilization that existed before Islam will now be said to have fled Mecca due to religious persecution?

Press Statement  Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives    February 5, 2026    Kwara, Benue attacks: Speaker Abbas calls for more action against killings    Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, condemns in strong terms the latest killings in Kwara and Benue States, which have reportedly left over a hundred persons dead.  He expressed concern that innocent citizens keep losing their lives in questionable circumstances, noting that the security agencies must take more decisive action in collaboration with the people for a safe society.    While over 70 people were feared killed during an attack by suspected terrorists on Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday night, a separate attack occurred in Abande community in Mbaikyor Ward, Turan, Kwande LGA of Benue State, where bandits reportedly killed scores.    The Speaker, who lamented the deaths and destruction that insecurity has caused Nigeria, called for drastic and concerted efforts by all stakeholders to protect lives and property.    Speaker Abbas described the socio-economic impact of insecurity as immeasurable, stating that both the government and the governed must collaborate to face the nation’s common enemies.    Calling on the security forces to step up their onslaught against criminals, the Speaker noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the National Assembly have continued to give the Armed Forces the needed resources and moral support to secure the country.    Speaker Abbas prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls while showing empathy to their families.    He sent heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Kwara and Benue States over the killings.    Signed:    Musa Abdullahi Krishi  Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, House of Representatives,  Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prof. Asaju debunks Rev. Omolehin’s claims regarding Late Anglican Bishop; urges Him to stop peddling unfounded stories Professor of Theology and Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ilesa, the Rt. Rev. Dapo Asaju, has debunked claims by Rev. Isaac Omolehin that the late founding Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop John Falope, became “born again” only after his retirement. Bishop Asaju, former Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, spoke in a broadcast on the Diocese’s social media handle (monitored by Church Times). He stated that he felt compelled to respond to Omolehin’s recent sermon regarding the late Bishop which put him in a wrong historical perspective..follow link for more https://churchtimesnigeria.net/prof-asaju-debunks-rev-omolehins-claims-regarding-late-anglican-bishop-urges-him-to-stop-peddling-unfounded-stories/ Beyond the Ink: A Theological Defense of Covenantal Imagery over Tattoo Culture In recent weeks, a significant controversy has swept through the public square and social media, sparked by high-profile pastors claiming that the Bible not only permits tattoos, but suggests that God the Father and Jesus Christ themselves possess them. By citing passages like Isaiah 49 and Revelation 19, these leaders have argued that the “engravings” on God’s palm and the “writing” on the Messiah’s thigh are divine justifications for modern body art. While the intent may be to appear culturally relevant or “missional” to a tattooed generation, this trend has created a theological crisis among believers who look to their leaders for sound doctrine. Ogun At 50 : The Siun–Kobape–Sagamu Road: 2003-2011, A Human-Centred Legacy of Careful Governance - Kehinde Ojo  Infrastructure is usually remembered through numbers, kilometres completed, contracts awarded, budgets spent. But as I look back today, what stays with me is not the numbers. What stays with me are the faces, the voices, the emotions, and the unmistakable human touch that defined the dualisation of the Siun Kobape Sagamu road under his Excellency, the Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel. I write this not just as an observer of government activities, but as one who walked that road, who spoke to the people, who recorded the story as it unfolded through Gateway Plus, the programme dedicated to documenting the work of the Ogun State government. In those days, I watched governance move beyond policy statements into the real lives of ordinary rural dwellers, and at the centre of that experience was his Excellency, the Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, whose name still echoes strongly across those communities today. What struck me most during that project was the carefulness. The method. The patience. Under his Excellency, the Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, nothing was rushed at the expense of the people. Before relocation was discussed, before demolition markings became visible, new homes had already been prepared for those whose houses fell within the project corridor. It was governance that carried empathy. It was leadership that understood that development must never leave the people poorer than it met them. I must also speak clearly about the role played by the Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency, OGROMA, under the disciplined and focused leadership of Engr Kehinde Osikoya. From my vantage point as a journalist covering the entire process, it was obvious that OGROMA was not just executing road work. They were executing a vision. Enumeration of affected properties was detailed. Engagement with communities was structured. Engineering decisions were balanced with human considerations. There was professionalism, but there was also compassion. That balance did not happen by accident. It reflected leadership direction from his Excellency, the Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, translated into operational excellence on ground by OGROMA. Even now, nearly two decades later, I cannot forget the atmosphere in those communities. I saw joy that is rare in government project environments. I saw families move into houses that were far better than what they left behind.  I remember clearly moments when residents whose homes were not affected would jokingly, and sometimes seriously, say they wished their houses were also marked so they too could benefit from the new standard of housing being delivered. That was the level of trust. That was the level of satisfaction. That was the level of confidence the people had in the leadership of his Excellency, the Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Beyond the housing and beyond the road itself was something even more powerful. Ogun State became a living construction economy. I watched local artisans find steady work. I spoke with small scale suppliers who suddenly had steady demand for materials like granite. I saw transporters fully engaged moving construction inputs from one project corridor to another. Young people who had been idle found daily work opportunities tied to project sites. This was development that circulated wealth locally. This was development that carried people along. Across Ogun State, wherever OGROMA operated during that era under Engr Kehinde Osikoya, the story was similar. Local people were not spectators. They were participants. Some worked as artisans. Some supplied materials. Some provided support services. The road projects became economic lifelines. The state truly felt like a place under purposeful development, and the people felt it directly in their pockets and in their living conditions. Today, when I pass through the Siun Kobape Sagamu corridor, I do not just see a road. I see memories. I see evidence of a time when leadership decisions directly improved the quality of

DID YOU KNOW? • That,  unprecedentedly, 1960 was the year when a total number of  17 African nations, gained independence, from their colonial overlords. This was the year, when Africa witnessed the historic wave of decolonization, that is now commonly referred to, as the “Year of Africa.” Most of these African countries broke free from French, British, and Belgian colonial rule, in rapidly transforming Africa’s political landscape. The new African nations then emerged, facing enormous challenges, in their building of governments, unifying diverse ethnic groups and developing their economy after decades of massive colonial exploitations.   The occurrence of the very difficult possibility of these nations, ever being able to  gain independence, greatly energized the pre-existing liberation movements across the continent. The "Year of Africa", also had global impact, on shifting global power dynamics, during the Cold War and amplified Africa’s voice in international organizations, like the United Nations, where newly independent states began to play some significant roles in global diplomacy. The countries that gained independence in 1960, were Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, Madagascar, Somalia, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Chad, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Senegal, Mali,  Mauritania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. • That, in 1939, World War II began when Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1, by using a rapid military strategy known as blitzkrieg (“lightning war”). In response, Britain and France declared war on Germany, which turned the regional conflict into a global one. Over the following six years, the war spread across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, with involving more than 30 countries. It became the deadliest conflict in human history, which resulted in an estimated 70–85 million deaths. This  included millions of civilians, and it permanently reshaped international politics, borders, and global power structures. TODAY IN HISTORY. • On this day in 1994, Byron De La Beckwith, a widely known white supremacist, was  convicted for his 1963 assassination of civil rights leader, "Medgar Evers", in Jackson, Mississippi, USA, more than 30 years after he had committed the crime. Beckwith had twice avoided conviction in the 1960s, due to the  all-white composition of the juries, that tried him and their racial bias. The case was only reopened after new, strong, very convincing  evidence and testimony had emerged. Hence,  in February 1994, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. This conviction was widely seen as a major landmark in the pursuit of delayed justice in the civil rights-era for racist crimes and it underscored the long struggle for accountability in America’s racial history. THOUGHTS OF TODAY. Being educated should not end, with only obtaining certificates, diplomas and degrees, but must continue in the limitless search, gathering and absorbsion, of knowledge and learning, for self improvements in wisdom, awareness, character, economic growth and development. – Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon. “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from indomitable self will.” – Mahatma Gandhi.
